The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant priority listing for a plea seeking reopening of the Baidyanath temple at Deoghar in Jharkhand.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said that since the whole world is suffering from COVID-19, there was no urgency to hear the plea, reports Bar and Bench.

“Why should we give priority to this? The whole world is suffering,” said CJI Ramana.

Advocate Prashant Kumar, appearing for the petitioner, responded by stating that COVID numbers are low in Jharkhand.

“Yes, yes, there is no COVID you know,” the CJI responded while disallowing the mentioning for urgent listing.
