New Delhi, May 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, landed in Berlin for the first part of his three-nation European tour. During this visit, he will hold comprehensive bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and co-chair the India-Germany inter-governmental consultations.

“Landed in Berlin. Today, I will be holding talks with Chancellor @OlafScholz, interacting with business leaders and addressing a community programme. I am confident this visit will boost the friendship between India and Germany,” PM Modi tweeted.

The 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations will be co-chaired by Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Scholz (IGC). PM Modi stated in his departure statement that his trip to Berlin will provide him with the opportunity to have in-depth bilateral discussions with Chancellor Scholz, whom he met at the G20 last year in his previous capacity as Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister.

“We will co-chair the 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), a unique biennial format which India conducts only with Germany,” he said.

“I see this IGC as an early engagement with the new government in Germany, within six months of its formation, which will be helpful to identify our priorities for the medium and long term,” he added.

PM Modi will fly from Berlin to Copenhagen on May 3 for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Frederiksen, during which the two leaders will discuss the progress of India’s unique ‘Green Strategic Partnership’ with Denmark, as well as other bilateral issues.

He will also speak at the India-Denmark Business Roundtable and connect with the Danish Indian community. Apart from bilateral engagements with Denmark, PM Modi will attend the 2nd India-Nordic Summit, which will bring together the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway to assess collaboration since the first India-Nordic Summit in 2018.

PM Modi will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, who was re-elected as French president, on May 4 during a brief stopover in Paris. According to government sources, Prime Minister Modi will have 25 intense engagements during his three-day tour to as many nations, where he will spend over 65 hours.
