New Delhi, April 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasised the necessity for an integrated response to catastrophes, stating that in a globally interconnected world, a disaster in one place might have a significant influence on a completely other location.

While addressing at the fifth International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure 2023, he mentioned that 40 nations have joined the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure in recent years during his video talk at the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure 2023.

According to him, the conference has developed into a crucial venue for bringing together the global north and south, major and small nations, and advanced and emerging economies.

Infrastructure, according to Modi, is not just about profits but also about reach and durability. In addition, he emphasised the need of taking a comprehensive approach to infrastructure, saying that it should leave no one behind and should be there for everyone, even during times of crisis.

“Resilience is built in the times between one disaster and another. Studying past disasters and learning lessons from them is the way”, he added.

According to the prime minister, social and digital infrastructure are as crucial to transportation infrastructure.

He noted the occurrences of the heat wave that had devastated India and Europe, the cyclones, and the most recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria as recent calamities that serve as a reminder of the scope of issues confronting the world.
