PM Modi flags off Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express

New Delhi, Jan 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train that runs between Secunderabad and Vishakhapatnam on Sunday.

The eighth Vande Bharat Express would run in about eight hours between Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Secunderabad in Telangana. The train is planned to make intermediate stops in Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry.

“In this festive environment, today Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are receiving a grand present. Vande Bharat Express, in a way, will connect the shared culture and heritage of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

“Glad to flag off Vande Bharat Express between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam. It will enhance ‘Ease of Living’, boost tourism and benefit the economy,” PM Modi wrote in a tweet.

PM Modi said the Vande Bharat Express is a symbol of New India’s vision. India, which is moving rapidly on the path of progress.

According to the announcement, the Vande Bharat Express train, which runs from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam and travels a distance of about 700 kilometres, will be the first to link the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The train’s regular operations would begin on January 16, reservations opened on Saturday.

The train will stop at the stations in Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, and Vijayawada, and in Telangana at Khammam, Warangal, and Secunderabad.

With a capacity for 1,128 passengers, the train consists of 14 AC chair car coaches and two Executive AC chair car coaches. It includes special reserved seating and will offer the quickest transit option between these two stations.
