Jalaun, July 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh.
“The expressway will ensure seamless connectivity and further economic progress in the region. With this expressway, there will be an industrial boom in the region. It is the Modi and Yogi govt, we will take development not just to cities but to villages,” the PM said on the occasion.
“If two things- law and order situation & connectivity were to be corrected, I knew this would become a state that can fight against all odds. We improved both. Law and order situation is improving, so is connectivity,” the PM said.
“In the last eight years, our government has not focused just on the large metros but has worked towards seamlessly connecting the smaller towns and cities as well. We are working on inclusive development,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also counted the advantages of the expressway.
He said, “The Bundelkhand Expressway is a live example of the development of the Bundelkhand region. It will give a new identity to the region and will turn out to be a path for industrial investments.”
The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) built the 296-kilometre-long, four-lane Bundelkhand Expressway which cost about Rs 14,850 crore. The prime minister laid the expressway’s foundation stone in February 2020, and it took 28 months to finish.
The expressway originates in Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot and merges with the Agra Lucknow expressway in Etawah. It reduces travel time to Delhi from Chitrakoot by 40%. One could reach Delhi in six hours against 10 hours earlier.
“The state-of-the-art Bundelkhand Expressway passes through 7 districts. The local economy will benefit tremendously due to it. There will be great industrial development in the region and this would bring more opportunities for the local youth,” the prime minister tweeted on Friday.
