Diphu, April 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the double-engine government for the growth of the northeastern states on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Assam to lay the foundation stone for a number of projects.

PM Modi while addressing the ‘Peace, Unity and Development Rally’ at Diphu in Assam said,  “Today, the double-engine government is developing the nation with the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.

“Today when someone visits northeast and witnesses the rapid development taking place in the region, they also feel proud. We have understood the problems of the region,” he added.

Along with the ceremonies of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ he stated that the Government of India is commencing the project of constructing ‘Amrit Sarovars’ in each district of the country.

“The work of building more than 2,600 ‘Amrit Sarovar’ has begun. Such water bodies have a rich tradition in the tribal society. With this, water reservoirs will be created in every village, and they will also become a source of income for the people,” he further added.

PM Modi was joined by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the ‘Peace, Unity, and Development Rally’ in Diphu town. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Diphu Veterinary College, West Karbi Anglong Degree College, and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong). According to the government, these initiatives, valued more than Rs 500 crore, will provide new chances for skilling and employment in the region.

He will also lay the foundation stone for more than 2,950 ‘Amrit Sarovar’ projects during the event. The state will spend roughly Rs 1,150 crore to construct these ‘Amrit Sarovars.’ He will arrive at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, about 01:45 p.m. to dedicate Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital to the country. He will then attend a public gathering at Khanikar ground in Dibrugarh at around 3 p.m., where he will dedicate six additional cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the foundation stone for seven more cancer hospitals.
