Imphal, Jan 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid foundation stone of developmental projects worth over Rs 4800 crores in Imphal.
Adressing the people on this occasion, PM said, “Until a few years, only 6% of people of Manipur received piped water in their houses. Today, that network has expanded to 60% of the houses because of Jal Jeevan Mission program. You formed a stable govt in Manipur which is running with full majority & with full force.”
The PM also slammed previous government for leaving Manipur on its own and said that he has brought the BJP-led centre to the state’s doorstep.
“There was a time when Manipur was left to be on its own. I came to Manipur multiple times before I became the PM. I knew the pain in your hearts. So, after 2014, I brought the entire Govt of India to your doorstep,” said PM Modi in Imphal, Manipur.
“We should remember how the previous govts made Manipur a ‘blockade state’ & played politics to break the public unity. Efforts of double engine govt made sure there’s no fire of militancy & insecurity, but the light of peace & development,” he added.
PM also said that the Northeastern states will become major drivers of India’s growth in the upcoming years with Manipur as the main source of the country’s growth trajectory.
