New Delhi, Jan 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a video address to the 108th Indian Science Congress (ISC) on January 3, his office announced on Sunday.
According to the PMO statement, participants will talk on how to get more women into higher levels of industry, research, and teaching.
They will also discuss strategies to improve the representation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines and to ensure their equality in terms of access to education, chances for research, and economic engagement.
There will also be a unique programme with talks by accomplished women scientists that highlights the contributions of women in science and technology. There are also a number of other events planned.
A Children’s Science Congress will also be held as part of the event to encourage children’s interest in and attitude toward science.
A forum for advancing the bioeconomy and luring young people into agriculture will be provided by the Farmers’ Science Congress.
According to a PMO statement, the Tribal Science Congress would serve as a venue for the scientific presentation of indigenous old knowledge systems and practises with a particular emphasis on the empowerment of tribal women.
The 108th annual session of ISC, which was originally held in 1914, will be held at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, which is also commemorating its centennial this year, according to the release.
