New Delhi, July 18: Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ Veer Savarkar International Airport’s new Integrated Terminal Building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
He inaugurated the terminal building through video conferencing.
Increased connectivity on the island will result from the opening of the New Integrated Terminal Building, which was constructed for about Rs 710 crore.
The new terminal building will have a total built-up area of around 40,800 sq m and be able to accommodate about 50 lakh passengers a year.
At Port Blair Airport, an Apron that can accommodate two Boeing-767-400 and two Airbus-321 types of aircraft has also been built at a cost of Rs 80 crore, making the airport now capable of parking ten aircraft at once.
Earlier, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation, inaugurated a statue of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Port Blair.
Veer Savarkar International Airport, he stated, will be extended, and it is connected to Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam.
