New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written an open letter to the people of West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, urging them to bring change in the state and raising concerns over issues such as infiltration, law and order, and alleged vote bank politics.

Appeal for ‘Ebar BJP Sarkar’

In his letter, the Prime Minister invoked the slogan “Ebar BJP Sarkar” (This Time BJP Government) and called upon voters to remove the Mamata Banerjee-led government. Beginning with “Jai Maa Kali,” he wrote that the future of West Bengal and its coming generations would depend on the informed decision of its citizens in the upcoming elections.

He stated that every youth, elderly person, and woman who dreams of a “Sonar Bangla” is in distress, adding that their pain deeply concerns him. Modi said he has taken a firm resolve to make West Bengal developed and prosperous.

Listing Central Government Welfare Schemes

Highlighting his 11 years in office, the Prime Minister said his government has prioritized public welfare. He claimed that despite alleged non-cooperation from the state government, nearly 5 crore people in West Bengal have been connected to the banking system through the Jan Dhan Yojana.

He cited the construction of 85 lakh toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission, loans worth Rs 2.82 lakh crore extended to small traders and entrepreneurs, and assistance to 56 lakh senior citizens under the Atal Pension Yojana. Modi also mentioned that more than 1 crore families in the state received LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme and that over 52 lakh farmers benefited from the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Allegations Against State Government

The Prime Minister alleged that six decades of misgovernance and appeasement politics have caused irreparable damage to West Bengal. He said the state envisioned by Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo is now trapped in violence, chaos, and vote bank politics.

Referring to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, he wrote that the land that once inspired the nation’s freedom struggle is now facing issues of illegal infiltration and crimes against women. He also claimed that fake voters are influencing the electoral landscape of Rabindranath Tagore’s “Sonar Bangla.”

Concluding his letter, Modi questioned how long such conditions would continue and asserted that change has now become inevitable.
