Ranchi, July 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate much-needed projects worth Rs 1,000 crore for state capital Ranchi including an elevated corridor on perennially congested Ratu Road during his visit to Deoghar on Tuesday.
“The Prime Minister will be gifting projects worth Rs 1,000 crore to Ranchi. People of Ranchi have been waiting for an elevated corridor on Ratu Road for four decades. We thank the PM for making this dream come true,” said Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth.
The elevated road connecting Kutchery Chowk and Piska More on NH-75 will be built at a cost of Rs 533 crore and it is expected to be completed by 2024. Citizens have been demanding for the elevated road to get relief from heavy traffic since the 1980s.
Concerns of environment pollution and traffic jams on Ratu Road and nearby areas have persisted for a long time. The elevated corridor is being built under a special initiative of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Seth said it will be built on a single pillar with a four-lane road.
Another mega project that the Prime Minister will be laying the foundation for is the redevelopment of the Ranchi railway station at a cost of Rs 447 crore. There are plans to add modern facilities and make it one of India’s five best railway stations.
“The proposed redeveloped Ranchi station will have world class passenger amenities including a food court, executive lounge, cafeteria and air-conditioned waiting halls for ensuring ease of movement as well as comfort of the passengers,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.
Modi will also be laying the foundation online for a rail over bridge (ROB) near Nagri. “People have been facing huge difficulty while travelling on this highway. ROB was another much-awaited dream now being fulfilled by the Prime Minister,” Seth said.
The Prime Minister is visiting Deoghar on Tuesday. He will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various developmental projects worth more than Rs 16,800 crore for Jharkhand. Then he will perform Darshan and Pooja at Baba Baidyanath temple.
By evening he will leave for Patna where he will address the closing ceremony of Centenary celebrations of Bihar Legislative Assembly.
