Jamshedpur, Oct 16: Acting on a tip-off, police unearthed a mini-liquor factory by raiding a house at Jawahar Nagar under the Mango Thana area late on Sunday night.

Though no one could be arrested from the unauthorised liquor factory, the police seized a huge number of cartons containing filled liquor bottles, spirit containers, labels as well as corks beside other equipments meant for the liquor manufacturing.

The mini liquor factory was busted at a double-storeyed building located on Road No 17 at the densely-populated Jawahar Nagar in Mango.

Revealing about the breakthrough, the Mango Thana OC, Vinay Kumar said that the raid was conducted after the City SP, Rishabh Garg had instructed them having got specific information about the illegal liquor factory.

“We have seized 100 cartons of liquor besides other materials as well as equipment meant for the liquor manufacturing. We are now trying to detect the racketeers involved in the illegal business in the densely populated Jawahar Nagar area,” said Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.

According to the OC, the filled liquor bottles had the stickers of various popular brands of the IMFL which were manufactured aimed at getting them sold out during the ensuing Durga Puja.

The police suspect the spurious liquor would have been smuggled to Bihar where the sale of liquor is prohibited.

The police are preparing to send samples of the seized liquor to a Ranchi-based government lab for chemical examination so as to determine how harmful the seized stock is.
