Chandigarh, May 5: The police reported today that four suspected Khalistani terrorists were apprehended at a toll plaza in Haryana, with a substantial quantity of weaponry, ammunition, and explosives recovered from them.
They planned to send explosives to Nanded in Maharashtra and Adilabad in Telangana. Gurpreet, the main suspect, was previously imprisoned, when he met a Rajbeer with Pakistani ties, according to the authorities.
According to the police, Gurpreet and the three others seized today used to smuggle explosives across India, and the four have ties to Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI.
They were stopped at the Bastara toll plaza in Karnal at 4 a.m. while driving to Delhi in a white Toyota Innova SUV. The other three suspects have been identified as Punjab residents Bhupinder, Amandeep, and Parminder. A military grade mini-rover was utilised to approach the SUV and look for IEDs, in addition to a fully dressed bomb disposal expert.
According to the authorities, the four suspects were acting on orders from another terrorist, Harvinder Singh, who was in charge of them from Pakistan. IEDs, or improvised explosive devices, were handed to the four to spread across India. Previously, the alleged terrorists were able to deliver IEDs at at least two locations.
A country-made pistol, 31 bullets, and three iron containers with IEDs were among the weapons recovered from the suspects. They were discovered with 1.3 lakh in cash.
