Ranchi, Feb 16: A Rs. 5 lakhs rewardee CPI-Maoist Ganjhu got killed during a police encounter in Bulbul forest of Pesharar police station area of Lohardaga district.
About a hundred rounds of bullets have been reported from both sides in this encounter.
During this encounter, the police also used mortars, TNT bombs and automatic weapons. Seeing the police getting overpowering, the Naxalites ran towards Bulbul mountain.
According to the information, the Naxalites had descended to take water in the drain. During this, they started firing on seeing the security forces. In response, the security forces attacked with mortars and bombs.
Due to the continuous search operation by the police, the Naxalites are writhing with hunger and thirst because of which they wanted to get out of the forest.
Officers and soldiers of CRPF, COBRA Battalion, SAT Jharkhand Jaguar and District Police Force are involved in the ongoing operation against Naxalites.
According to the sources, the Maoist squad is stuck between Bulbul forest and Narayanpur forest. Their ration and water have also almost run out. They are not getting any outside help.
In such a situation, the Maoists are trying to stay hidden in some way. Every day they are facing security forces when they go out in search of food and water. This is the reason that for the last six days, the incident of continuous encounters has been coming to the fore.
The Cobra soldiers included in the team of security forces are also in the hope that as soon as the Maoists come out of the forest and they get surrounded by security personnel.
This is the sixth incident of encounter of security forces with Maoists from February 9 to 16. On Wednesday, there were two encounters at a short interval of time.
