Ranchi, May 4: Two partially burnt bodies recovered from the Murpa forest in Lohardaga on Tuesday have been identified as Pratap Mahli (27), son of Sitaram Mahli and resident of Ugra Kathar Toli, and Sushanti Devi (19), daughter of Birendra Oraon and resident of Kurse.

Primary investigation suggests that the murder was the outcome of an extramarital relationship.

“Sushanti was married to Lakshman Oraon a year ago. For the last three months, she was staying at her aunt’s house to undergo tailoring training. Her husband, who had gone to earn bread at a brick kiln in Mau in Uttar Pradesh, had returned on April 29. Investigation suggests that Lakshaman and Sushanti had last talked on Saturday. Shushanti had left her aunt’s house on Sunday. Pratap had also left his house on the same day,” a police official said.

Superintendent of police of Lohardaga R Ramkumar however, expressed his inability to give any conclusive statement saying ‘investigation is on.’
