Ranchi: In a bid to promote community policing and generate welfare funds, Jharkhand Police is gearing up to establish police-operated fuel stations in all district police lines and armed force battalions. The initiative will be modeled on similar projects in major cities where police manage fuel stations instead of private operators. Preparations are underway, and a meeting with officials from Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum is scheduled for today, chaired by the DGP.

Operational Model for Police Fuel Stations

The proposed fuel stations will be run by the police department, with profits directed towards police welfare activities. The stations will be strategically located within police lines and armed force battalions, ensuring the supply of unadulterated fuel and accurate measurements.

Benefits of the Initiative

1. Revenue Generation: Income from the fuel stations will address the department’s financial challenges and fund essential facilities and social initiatives.

2. Employment Opportunities: While police personnel will oversee operations, civilians will be hired for day-to-day work, creating job opportunities for local youth.

3. Quality Assurance: Customers will benefit from high-quality, contamination-free fuel.
