Police seize over 2600 kg of ganja in Assam’s Guwahati

Guwahati, Oct 11: Guwahati city police confiscated 2640 kilograms of ganja from an oil tanker and arrested two individuals.

Acting on confidential information, Guwahati city police, during the night between October 10 and 11, stopped an oil tanker in the Basistha area of Guwahati.

Diganta Borah, the Guwahati Police Commissioner said, “On the intervening night of October 10 and 11, a huge quantity of suspected ganja loaded in an oil tanker bearing registration number NL-01AH-0501 coming from Meghalaya side towards Basistha, was recovered and seized by a joint team of Central Police District and East Police District,”

“Total 2640 kg of suspected ganja in 134 packets were found inside the oil tanker which were hidden in the secret chamber,” Diganta Borah said.

Two divers by the names of Kasim Ali and Mukut Ali were taken into custody.

An investigation is in progress, and a case has been officially filed.
