Pirtand, April 23: The Harladih OP police seized two sand-laden tractors on April 23 by conducting a raid against those involved in illegal sand mining and transportation from various river ghats of Pirtand.
Due to this action, there is a stir among the sand mafia. Sand mafia illegally extracts sand from different sand ghats of Pirtand and sells it at high prices in Dhanbad.
Dozens of tractors take illegal sand from the Barakar River in the dark of night and come out from Nawadih, Ghorbad, Palganj, Khukhra and Harladih. Many accidents have also happened due to sand-laden tractors.
OP in-charge Ajay Soy told that two sand-laden tractors have been caught and further action is being taken.
