Jamshedpur,  May 23: Several areas serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) in the steel city and its outskirts continued to suffer a power crisis on Tuesday due to supply restrictions from Ranchi’s state load despatch centre which regulates power across the state.

JBVNL officials said that the short supply of power to the grids from the state load despatch centre (SLDC) coupled with technical snags at some places had led to blackouts last night.

Various localities serviced by JBVNL including Mango, Jugsalai, Birsanagar, Gorabandha, Govindpur and Adityapur continued to face erratic power supply today too.

Both the major power grid substations at Golmuri and Gamharia were getting power supply much below requirements.

Officials of JBVNL’s  Singhhum Electricity Supply Area confirmed that both the grid substations at Golmuri and Gamharia were getting less supply for the last couple of days.

The Golmuri substation received around 30MW against the normal supply of 45MW while Gamharia got 70MW against the normal supply of 120MW.

Residents of several localities including  Mango, Jugsalai, Parsudih, Adityapur and Govindpur in the outskirts of the city complained of erratic supply and prolonged load shedding.

Power played hide and seek in these localities from 10 am today.

Residents had a miserable time due to power cuts coupled with severe heat.

Several apartments in Mango, Gorabandha and elsewhere could not pump in water into the overhead tanks due to the poor power supply for the past two days.

JBVNL officials kept their fingers crossed.

“We are helpless as we are not getting sufficient power from the state load despatch centre. We are hopeful that the situation is likely to improve soon, ” said an official.
