New Delhi, May 29: President Droupadi Murmu swore in Vigilance Commissioner Praveen Kumar Srivastava on Monday to serve as the Central Vigilance Commissioner, as per a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Following the conclusion of Suresh N. Patel’s term as the head of the probity watchdog, Srivastava has been serving as the acting Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) since December of last year.
“At a ceremony held today at 1030 hrs at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Shri Praveen Kumar Srivastava was sworn in as the Central Vigilance Commissioner. He made and subscribed the oath of his office before the President,” the statement said.
Along with other dignitaries, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were present during the ceremony.
Srivastava is an Assam-Meghalaya cadre (retired) Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1988 batch. On January 31 of last year, he retired from his position as secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.
