Ramgarh, Dec.9: A wave of mourning has engulfed the army officers and jawans of Punjab Regimental Centre and Sikh Regimental Centre in Ramgarh cantt after they received the news of CDS General Bipin Rawat’s death.

The officers remembered the time when the then Chief of Army Staff, Bipin Rawat visited the Punjab Regimental Centre Ramgarh cantt on 25 September 2019.

On that day as the Chief of Army Staff, Rawat had presented the ‘President Nishan’ (President Collars) to the new battalions 29 Punjab and 30 Punjab for their bravery, diligence and successful service in a challenging environment.  Senior army officers, retired officers, jawans and other guests from across the country had witnessed the historic moment.

The brave soldiers had also performed the ‘President’s Nishan Parade’ in the presence of the Chief of Army Staff at the Kilahari Drill Ground of the Punjab Regimental Center.

General Rawat had also met and interacted with the retired military officers, ‘Veer Naris’ and other members of the martyr’s family, who came from across the country to participate in the celebrations on that day.  He also released the booklet of the regiment on the occasion.

In his address, he said that along with the immense efforts and rich traditions of the regiment, the performance of the soldiers in various fields of war, operations, sports, and training is also excellent.

He came to Ramgarh and got a chance to address the oldest and most decorated Punjab Regiment of the Indian Army. The Punjab Regiment holds a special place in the Indian Army on a war footing.  He also said that the modern and professional Indian Army has to be always ready to face the challenges that may come in the future.
