President’s Jharkhand visit: Traffic to be disrupted, roadside shops ordered to remain closed

Ranchi, Nov 13: President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Jharkhand on November 14-15. The President’s Secratariat has released a schedule in this regard.

Notably, the President will come to Ranchi via Deoghar, after a visit to the Baba Dham temple there. The President will then reach the airport at 3 pm on November 14 and will stay at Raj Bhavan, where she will attend a dinner with guests including Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan laureates.

The President will then leave for Khunti at 8 am on November 15. She will return from Khunti by 12:30 pm to Birsa Munda airport and will attend the programme to be organised at Morhabadi. President Murmu will also have lunch at Raj Bhavan, after which she will leave for the airport at 3 pm for her flight to Delhi.

Furthermore, guidelines have been issued at the level of Ranchi Traffic SP. Restrictions for normal traffic are to be imposed in areas including the Birsa Munda Airport, Hinoo Chowk, Satellite Chowk, Argora Chowk, the road from New Market Chowk to Raj Bhavan, from Raj Bhavan to Morhabadi Maidan via ATI Mor, Sidhu-Kanhu Mor.

Similarly, on November 15, traffic will be disrupted at Birsa Munda Airport from the Government Guest House More, Sidho Kanhu Park More, ATI Mod, Hotlips Chowk, New Market Chowk, Argora Chowk, Satellite Chowk, Birsa Chowk, Hinoo Chowk. Restrictions will be imposed accordingly. However, said roads will be opened for general traffic as the President’s carcade passes.

Four alternative routes have been selected by the administration for the President to reach Birsa Munda Airport and travel from there to the destination. These include the Hethu-Tumbagutu, Karamtoli-Kumhahutu, Kutiyatu Chowk (Toofani Enclave) via Ring Road Kharsidag to the other side at Sadabahar Chowk, Namkum. The second route is Hethu-Tumbagutu-Barkatoli, Chandaghasi Bhaya Bhasur via Ring Road.

The third route includes the Army Aviation Camp-Airport Ground-Pokhartoli, Neem Chowk, Khwajanagar Manitola Bhaya Doranda Road next to High Court; while the fourth route fixed is Hethu, Birsa Munda Airport via Singh More Latma Road.

On November 14-15, normal traffic from Raj Bhavan to New Market Chowk, Argora Chowk, Satellite Chowk, Birsa Chowk, Hinoo Chowk, and Birsa Munda Airport will be closed in view of the security precautions for the President’s carcade. The roads will be opened after the carcade passes.

Meanwhile, illegal parking will be completely closed on both sides of the road from Birsa Munda airport via Harmu Bypass to Argora Chowk, New Market Chowk, Hotlips Chowk to Raj Bhavan and ATI Mor, Sidho-Kanhu Mor to Morhabadi Maidan. Action will be taken against those who violate this as per the rules.

Along with this, large numbers of security forces will be deployed on both sides on the route chosen for the President’s carcade. Officials will also be deputed on building rooftops as a precaution. Apart from this, the traffic police will also be deployed.

A total of 15 additional IPS officers have been deputed to Ranchi and Khunti for the President’s visit. The policemen were also briefed at the SP level regarding the tour on Sunday morning. At the same time, the mock drill will also be done from Raj Bhavan to Birsa Munda Airport between 3 and 4 pm. In this, the number of vehicles and officers involved in the President’s carcade will remain the same.

In the meantime, RMC officials are busy preparing for the visit of President Murmu. Municipal Commissioner Shashi Ranjan on Saturday walked the roads of the city to ensure that there is no obstruction on the roads during the President’s visit.

During this, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kunwar Singh Pahan directed that roadside shops around Harmu Road, Raj Bhavan and Kokar Road will not be allowed from November 13 to 16.

The Nagababa vegetable market near the Raj Bhavan was also ordered to remain closed. The Municipal Commissioner directed that a 24-hour cleaning campaign should be carried out on the main roads along with the removal of illegal banner posters and flags for the arrival of the President.
