New Delhi, June 27: Yashwant Sinha, the opposition’s presidential candidate, submitted his nomination papers to the New Delhi Parliament. Rahul Gandhi of the Congress and Sharad Pawar of the NCP stood to either side of him.
He was accompanied by other politicians for the nomination submission, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh from the Congress. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Jayant Chaudhary, leader of the RLD, were also there.
Minister KT Rama Rao and the working president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were also present at the nomination ceremony. Along with Rama Rao, other TRS MPs were also there, as was Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s (also known as KCR) son.
The TMC, Congress, CPI, Shiv Sena, NCP, SP, DMK, RJD, NC, AIUDF, NCP, RLD, PDP, and AIMIM are among the organisations that support Sinha’s candidacy.
For the forthcoming presidential elections, which will be held on July 18, 2022, former union minister Yashwant Sinha (84), was selected as the Joint Opposition’s consensus candidate.
