Ranchi, Nov 28: The Jharkhand government has instructed all private and government nursing institutes in the state to take 100 percent admissions through the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB).

Making it a mandatory practice, the state government has decided to cancel the registration of the institutions that do not take admission through the entrance examination and counselling conducted by JCECEB. In this sequence, the Health Department has already sent notices to several such nursing institutions that are yet to make their seats available to the department for counselling.

Government fee on 50% Private nursing institutes will not only have to take nominations for 100% seats from JCECEB, but the institutes will be able to charge only fees applicable in government institutes from students enrolled on 50% seats. It will be decided by the state government. The private institute concerned will be free to decide the fee for the remaining 50 percent of seats.

As per the instructions, private nursing institutes will not only have to take admission from JCECEB on 100 per cent seats, but the institutes will have to charge fees applicable in government institutions from 50 percent student seats only. The concerned private institute will be free to fix the fee for the remaining 50 percent of seats.

Meanwhile, the JCECEB has also organised one round of counselling for admission to ANM, GNM and Nursing courses. In the first round of counselling, seats have been allotted for most of the government institutes only, because JCECEB was not provided with the total number of seats from private institutes. However, after instructions from the Health Department, several institutes have provided the total number of seats. As a result of this, the process of second counselling has been started for enrollment.

On the other hand, the 20 institutes that did not provide the number of seats to JCECEB, have been questioned through notices as to why action should not be taken to cancel their registration.

The institutes which were sent notices include Jharkhand Education Research Institute, Ranchi; KICAM Nursing School, Dhanbad, Nursing schools run by Prejha Foundation in Chaibasa, Gumla, Chanho, Itki, Jamtara, Seraikela Kharsawan, and Latehar; Radha Govind School of Nursing, Ramgarh; Ambedkar Institute of Higher Education, Godda; Alakhdev College of Nursing, Ramgarh; Cambridge School of Nursing, Koderma; Gayatri School of Nursing, West Singhbhum; Om Sai ANM Nursing School, Godda; Ramadi School of Nursing, Khunti; R S Rai College of Nursing, Dumka; Saint Annie School of Nursing, Ranchi; Pahari Nursing School, Ormanjhi; and Swarnarekha College of Nursing Ranchi. However, some of these institutes have made the number of seats available to the department after notice.
