Lalitpur, Oct.29: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, on Friday met with family members of farmers who allegedly became ill and died while waiting in line to buy agricultural fertiliser. Other farmers plagued by low fertiliser stocks were also met by the Congress leader.

In recent weeks, numerous states have experienced severe fertiliser shortages. The shortage became tragic in UP’s Bundelkhand region, where desperate farmers died while attempting to obtain fertiliser bags.
Bhogilal Pal (55), of Nayagaon, died of a heart attack while waiting in line outside a fertiliser shop on October 22. Pal had been waiting for his turn to buy fertiliser for two days, according to reports.
She travelled to Lalitpur on the Sabarmati Express on Thursday night. She spoke with railway porters at the Lucknow railway station before her departure.
The porters told Priyanka Gandhi about the difficulties they are having and the financial loss they have endured as a result of the government’s inaction during the Covid-19 outbreak.
While addressing the media, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Lesser quantity of fertiliser is now being given in sacks & the price has been increased. What will they do? They have a lot of issues but govt isn’t listening. They know that farmers are on roads for months. They are being mowed down by vehicles.”
She slammed the Yogi government by saying that the government has failed, it has completely ignored farmers. This is not an issue of these 4 farmers alone, this is an issue of the entire Bundelkhand.
