Prof Nilofar Khan appointed as Kashmir University’s first woman VC

Srinagar, May 19: Prof Neelofer Khan was named Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, on Thursday. Professor Khan was a member of the Home Science department.

With this, Prof. Talat Ahmad, whose term ended in August 2021 will be replaced.

“In exercise of the powers vested under him under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, he (Manoj Sinha), Chancellor, University of Kashmir, hereby appoint Professor Nilofer Khan, Department of Home Sciences, University of Kashmir, as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir for a period of three years with effect from the date she takes overcharge, on the terms and conditions to be notified separately,” said LG Manoj Sinja, who is also the chancellor of Kashmir University.

Notably, Prof Nilofer Khan is the first woman to be appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the university.
