Dhanbad, Aug 22: Prof Pankaj Roy, head of the electrical engineering department, today took over the charge as director-in-charge of the state government owned BIT Sindri.

The higher and technical education department of the state government on Monday evening issued a notification regarding the appointment of Prof Pankaj Roy as the director-in-charge of BIT Sindri till the lien period of outgoing director Dr DK Singh.

The post of BIT Sindri director had been vacant since June after director Dr DK Singh was appointed  Vice-Chancellor (VC)  of Jharkhand Technical University (JTU) Ranchi. Senior professor Dr Ghanshyam Kumar was discharging the responsibility as officiating-in-charge till Monday (August 21).

However, the higher and technical education department joint secretary George Kumar issued a  notification regarding the appointment of Dr Pankaj Roy as director-in-charge on Monday evening on the directive of the Governor with immediate effect. The notification said the Chief Minister has recommended it.

Prof Pankaj Roy joined BIT Sindri in 1993 and brought the department to new heights. “My priority would be all-round development of students in collaboration with all faculty members and stakeholders,” he said after taking charge.
