Jamshedpur, Sept 25: Train services in the Tatanagar- Howrah section of South Eastern Railway ( SER) were affected since the early morning of Saturday as local people of Gidhni staged an agitation on tracks protesting against recent fare hike in Jhargram-Dhanbad Passenger.

The agitators also demanded the introduction of more trains between the two destinations.

Railway sources revealed that the agitators squatted on the tracks disrupting train movement since 6 am.

According to railway sources, the local people started gathering at Gidhni since the early morning for participating in the agitation.

Several trains had to be detained resulting in passenger woes. The Tatanagar- Howrah Steel Superfast Express was detained at Chakulia railway station.

The train had left Tatanagar railway station on its scheduled time at 6.10 am.

Several Tatanagar bound trains from Howrah were also detained mid-way.

Railway police including Railway Protection Force  ( RPF) and Government Railway Police ( GRP ) were deployed at the spot of agitation for avoiding any untoward incident.
