Pune: Pune Police have made explosive revelations in the ongoing Porsche crash case, where a teen driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol ran over and killed two people. Police claim that several members of the accused’s family, including his father, mother, and brother, were also intoxicated when they attempted to swap blood samples to manipulate the alcohol test results.
The shocking details emerged as Pune Police arrested two doctors from Sassoon Hospital, Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor, along with other accomplices who were involved in the plot. The accused family allegedly bribed the doctors to replace the teen’s blood samples with those of his mother, as the father and brother were also found to be intoxicated.
How the Cover-Up Unfolded
According to police, the original plan was to use blood samples from the father or brother, but due to their alcohol consumption, the family resorted to using the mother’s blood instead. The attempt was made to conceal the teen’s intoxication during the accident, where he was reportedly too drunk to stand, according to eyewitnesses.
In a viral video, the mother of the accused had earlier claimed that the video showing her son at the crash site was fabricated and pleaded for his protection.
Police have revealed that the tampering of blood samples was not limited to the teen but also extended to two other minors in the car. Their samples were also manipulated with the assistance of Dr. Taware, who was allegedly paid ₹ 2.5 lakh for the favor.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that local officers failed to follow proper protocol in the initial handling of the case, which has since led to the suspension of two officers involved. Police are now adding charges of destruction of evidence, corruption, and forgery to the list of offenses against the family and the medical professionals involved.
The crash, which took place on May 19, claimed the lives of 24-year-old software engineers Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, who were killed when the ₹ 2.5 crore Porsche ran over their two-wheeler. The accused and his friends were celebrating their school exam results at local pubs, reportedly running up liquor bills amounting to ₹ 50,000.
Fallout from the Incident
The bar that served alcohol to the group has had its license revoked, and the premises were sealed. The police investigation continues to focus on the manipulation of evidence and the involvement of influential individuals in covering up the incident.
The teen, who was granted bail just 15 hours after the crash on the controversial condition of writing an essay on road safety, has since been released from a juvenile home.
