Bathinda, Sep 26: A day after Manpreet Singh Badal, a leader in the BJP and a former state minister, was the target of raids by the Vigilance Department; an arrest warrant was issued for Badal by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) at all airports for Manpreet Singh Badal, a former finance minister of Punjab and a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party.

The acquisition of two properties in Model Town phase-1 Bathinda is the subject of a criminal and corruption prosecution against Badal, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP in January of this year.

In addition to the Information Technology Act, the complaint was filed against him under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and section 13 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Notably, the vigilance department has issued the notice to prevent Manpreet Badal from leaving the country.

Cases have also been filed against four other people in addition to Badal. Rajiv Kumar (a resident of New Shakti Nagar), Amandeep Singh (a resident of Lal Singh Basti) and Vikas Arora (a resident of Tagore Nagar) are the three accused who have been detained thus far by the Vigilance Bureau.

The investigation was opened when Saroop Chand Singla, a former Bathinda MLA, complained against Manpreet Singh Badal and others, a spokesman for the Vigilance Bureau stated.
