Chandigarh, May 31: Sidhu Moose Wala, famous Punjabi singer and Congress activist who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Mansa district on Sunday evening, was cremated in front of a large crowd at a farmhouse in his native village on Tuesday.

The family has opted to carry out the final rituals on their ancestral agricultural land in Moosa village, Mansa district.

Congress leaders, including PPCC president Raja Warring, followed his father. Moose Wala’s favourite 5911 tractor was used to transport the body to the ground.

Earlier, a large crowd gathered to pay their respects to Shubhdeep Singh, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala, 28, at his residence. The teenage rapper was killed not far from his house when he was shot. His death was widely lamented in India and Canada, where he had studied.

The body of Moose Wala was taken to his residence under tight security. A large crowd gathered outside his ancestral home as police sealed the doors and allowed only relatives and close friends inside.
