Punjab’s deputy chief ministers, Sukhjinder Randhawa and Om Prakash Soni, will be from Dera Baba Nanak and Amritsar Central constituencies, respectively, for the state polls.
Notably, the Punjab Assembly polls will take place in a single phase on February 14. The counting of votes and results will be out on March 10.
In the 2017 Assembly polls, the Congress had won an absolute majority in Punjab by winning 77 seats and ousted the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party government after a long gap of 10 years.
Interestingly, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged as the second-largest party with 20 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured only three seats.
