Chandigarh, Dec.3: Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala has joined the Congress party in Chandigarh today in the presence of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and State Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The 28-year-old Punjabi singer and actor would run in the next Punjab Assembly elections according to Congress sources.

“He could contest from Mansa or Maur,” a senior Punjab Congress leader speculated.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moose Wala was born on June 17, 1993, in the Moose Wala hamlet of Mansa district. Moose Wala is known for his gangster raps and has a fan base in the millions.

Sidhu Moose Wala’s mother was a sarpanch in the village. He has an electrical engineering degree. He studied music in college and afterwards relocated to Canada.

Sidhu Moose Wala was quite loud during the farmers’ agitation against the three farm laws that have subsequently been overturned. He backed farmers’ organisations’ proposal for a “Chalo Delhi” demonstration.

Moose Wala arrived at the Tikri Border in December 2020, where farmers were demonstrating, and demanded the central government to resolve their complaints over three farm laws.
