Patratu, Nov 8: An awareness cum advocacy session was organized under the community development initiatives of PVUN LTD at the Gram Panchayat Bhawan of Village Katiya to observe the National Cancer Awareness Day, which is observed on November 7 each year in remembrance of Marie Currie’s birth.
The session was inaugurated by Shri Kishor Kumar Mahto, Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat Katiya. The interactive session was delivered by Dr Anupama and the medical staff of PTPS Health Centre. Over 120 beneficiary women of the nearby villages came forward to attend the sessions and gain insights on various types of Cancer.
The session enabled the local women to conduct periodic self-examination of their bodies to support the early detection of the disease, sensitize them about the methods of prevention and vaccination etc. Such sessions are aimed to not only empower women to take charge of their own health but also help them to control the incidence and prevalence of the disease.
Notably, Cancer is a major healthcare concern in India, with nearly 1.1 million cases being reported every year. National Cancer Awareness Day is observed every year to raise awareness about early detection and lifestyle choices that increase our risk of cancer.
