New Delhi, Dec 13: Days after the passing of a US reporter, who supported the LGBTQ community by sporting a rainbow T-shirt, another journalist has died in Qatar.
According to Metro, Qatari photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam worked for Al Kass TV. It happened on Sunday. The site added that the official cause of his death has not yet been disclosed by the Qatari authorities. Gulf Times announced the news about Al-Misslam on Twitter, stating that he ‘died abruptly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.’
“We believe in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to his family,” the tweet further said.
Al Kass TV also confirmed the news in a live broadcast and said they are waiting for further details, a report in Metro said.
Only 48 hours have passed since American journalist Grant Wahl passed away. At the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Friday, the 48-year-old passed out while covering Argentina’s quarterfinal match against the Netherlands.
Eric Wahl, Wahl’s brother, said that the Qatari government might have been complicit in the former Sports Illustrated journalist’s demise.
Celine Gounder, an epidemiologist and authority on infectious diseases, voiced her dismay on social media on behalf of her husband, Wahl.
