New Delhi, May 21: Officials said on Sunday that when US President Joe Biden approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Quad meeting, one of the things he mentioned was the large number of requests he was receiving from prominent citizens to attend the Indian leader’s events during his upcoming state visit to Washington, DC.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed a similar sentiment, saying that he too is finding it challenging to meet all the demands he is receiving for a community event where Modi would speak on Tuesday, even when the Sydney site has a capacity of 20,000, the officials stated.
Albanese recalled how during his victory lap, more than 90,000 spectators greeted him at the Narendra Modi stadium.
In a lighthearted tone, Biden said Modi he wants his autograph.
In March of this year, Modi and Albanese participated in a lap of honour while attending an India-Australia test match in the Gujarat stadium.
Modi is due to land in Australia on Monday as part of his continuing three-nation tour, and he will speak at the community event on Tuesday.
