Ranchi: Vinay Singh, a close associate of arrested IAS officer Vinay Chaubey, has claimed ignorance about multiple high-value properties, alleged benami assets worth crores, and related money trails during questioning by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), raising serious concerns over his cooperation with the investigation.
ACB Alleges Non-Cooperation During Questioning
According to ACB officials, Vinay Singh has repeatedly given evasive replies instead of cooperating with the probe. Investigators said that whenever questioned about assets registered in his name, those of his family members, or close associates, Singh responded with statements such as “I don’t know,” “I don’t remember,” or “I have no connection,” indicating an attempt to deflect the investigation.
No Clarity on Wife’s Absence Despite Summons
The agency also questioned Singh about his wife, Snigdha Singh, who has failed to appear before the ACB despite multiple summons. Singh reportedly claimed he had no knowledge of why she was not cooperating and denied discussing the case with her. Officials believe this stance suggests deliberate distancing from the investigation process.
Denial of Links to Delhi Property
During ACB searches in Delhi, Singh’s son was found present at a property under scrutiny. However, Singh denied having any information about the property’s ownership, control, or usage. He also refused to acknowledge any association with the property, maintaining silence on related questions.
Unanswered Questions on Asset Details and Money Trail
Investigators sought details such as plot numbers, flat information, developers’ names, and sources of investment linked to properties spread across Delhi and other locations. Singh reportedly avoided providing specifics, repeatedly stating that all assets were declared in income tax returns. However, he failed to explain the origin, timing, and method of fund transfers used to acquire these properties.
