Actor R Madhavan has taken to social media to expose a wellness brand that allegedly used a clip from one of his interviews without his consent to promote their product, making it appear as though he was personally endorsing it.
How the Fraud Was Carried Out
Madhavan shared a video clip on Instagram in which a portion of his interview had been edited and presented in a way that gave the impression he was recommending the brand’s product to viewers. The actor made it clear that he had never promoted the product and had given no permission for his footage to be used in this manner.
Actor’s Strong Response
In his post, Madhavan wrote that the video had been crafted to make it look like he was personally endorsing the product, without his knowledge or consent. He said such practices break public trust and make it difficult for people to distinguish what is genuine from what is misleading, calling the act deeply shameful.
Legal Notice Sent
Madhavan confirmed that he has sent a legal notice to the company involved, emphasising that using any part of a celebrity’s interview or video without their permission for promotional purposes is wrong and unacceptable.
Warning to Fans
The actor also used the opportunity to alert his fans and social media users to be cautious and not blindly trust every promotional video or advertisement they come across on the internet.
