New Delhi, Dec 12: The list for the 2022–23 season is going to be finalised during the Board’s Apex Council meeting on December 21 and BCCI is likely to remove out-of-favor Test players Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma from its yearly central contracts, while Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav may get promoted.

Hardik Pandya is likely to get a promotion to Group B from C.

The meeting, which has 12 items on the agenda, will be held via video conference.

The agenda does not include a discussion of the Indian team’s performance in the T20 World Cup and Bangladesh One-Dayers, but the chairperson may think it necessary to bring up unlisted matters for debate.

The Apex Council will also approve a one-time payment for V Jaydevan, whose rain-rule formula has been utilised in domestic white-ball matches for more than ten years, in an innovative gesture.

At the international level, the Mushtaq Ali T20, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and formerly the Deodhar Trophy and Challenger Trophy employ the VJD whereas the ICC uses the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method (DLS).

The speedster Ishant and former vice-captain Rahane, who are no longer in the running for an India spot, are expected to be removed from the new list. Wriddhiman Saha, a stutter-batter, will also be removed from the list because he was specifically informed at the beginning of the year that he won’t be chosen for India again

The cricketers are offered Rs 1 in Group C contracts, Rs 5 in Group A, Rs 3 in Group B, and Rs 7 in Group A+ contracts.

The BCCI uses a variety of measures in conjunction with national selectors to decide on the grading scheme.

Players in the A+ and A categories are either all-format regulars or at the very least assured in Tests and one of the two white-ball formats. Cricketers who play at least two different formats must be in Group B, while single-format players are more likely to be in Group C.

Additionally, in order to be included on the list, a certain minimum number of international games (per format) must be played. However, the promotion is dependent on performance, and the ICC rating is also taken into account.

Gill, who is now a two-format regular (Tests and ODIs) can expect a promotion from Group C to B.
