New Delhi, Jan 10: Rahul Gandhi visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday afternoon before the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Punjab leg.
Congressman Jairam Ramesh told reporters in Ambala that Rahul Gandhi would spend a few hours in Amritsar before heading back to Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, today evening. The Congress tweeted photos of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the Golden Temple.
“Before the start of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab, today Rahul Gandhi offered obeisance at the world famous Golden Temple symbol of religious unity in Amritsar and prayed for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the country,” party said in a tweet.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal slammed Rahul Gandhi’s Golden Temple visit and said, “It is a matter of shame to see the eagerness and joy of the Punjab Congress in welcoming Rahul Gandhi, the successor of the Gandhi family, who has betrayed Punjab and Sikhs and tried to destroy even the religious places of Sikhs.”
