Mansa, June 7: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, paid a visit to the family of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala today in Punjab’s Mansa region to express his sorrow over the artist’s death.

When Rahul Gandhi arrived at Chandigarh airport this morning, he headed straight to Moosa, the singer’s hometown.

Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by other Congress officials, including Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa, former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni, and others. For Rahul Gandhi’s visit, security had been beefed up outside Moose Wala’s family’s home.

Notably on May 29, unidentified assailants shot and killed Sidhu Moose Wala in Mansa district.

Rahul Gandhi was out of the country at the time of the murder and returned over the weekend.  Sidhu Moose Wala, who joined the Congress in December of last year, ran for the Mansa seat in the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022 but lost.

The parents of Sidhu Moose Wala met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. Punjab Chief Minister Bhgawant Mann has previously extended his condolences to the family.
