New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has thrown down a unique challenge to his “little sister” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting in the upcoming Wayanad bypoll. Speaking at a campaign event in Sultan Bathery, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, urged Priyanka to elevate Wayanad as the top tourist destination in Kerala.
Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, vacated the seat after retaining Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh during the general election, paving the way for Priyanka’s electoral debut on November 13. The bypoll will see her face off against Sathyan Mokeri from the Left front and Navya Haridas of the BJP.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi said, “Priyanka Gandhi ji is the MP candidate. She is also my little sister, so I have the right to complain about her to the people of Wayanad. Wayanad owns a huge place in my heart that is beyond politics. I’m there to help everyone here at any time. If I can show its beauty to the rest of the world then I’ll happily do it.”
Rahul Gandhi added a personal challenge for Priyanka, “I would also like to challenge my sister to make Wayanad the best tourist destination. When people think of Kerala, the first destination should be Wayanad. This will benefit the people of Wayanad and its economy, and the world will get to know its beauty.”
Rahul Gandhi also reflected on the values he learned from Wayanad, noting, “The people of Wayanad taught me that love has an important place in politics. Love and affection are the only weapons that can combat hatred and anger.”
