Daltonganj, June 6: The Odisha train tragedy has apparently spurred the railways into action to strengthen the track for the high-speed trains.

The East Central Railway of the Dhanbad division has gone on an overdrive to replace the sleepers at various blocks in Daltonganj railway station.

Around 100 labourers were working feverishly replacing old sleepers with newer and more strengthened sleepers on the main upline at the Daltonganj railway station.

An official of the Railway Vikas Nigam Limited refusing to be identified said this replacement for the sleepers is definitely a safety measure as now on this track high-speed trains will be running and the previous existing sleepers were not able to bear the high speed and hence new and far more strengthened sleepers are being put under the track here.

The taken-off sleepers are not discarded ones rather they will be put to use at some other railway tracks since these removed sleepers continue their value and utility.
