Ranchi, July 30: The National Child Protection Commission (NCPCR) conducted a surprise inspection of the Rainbow Children’s Home on Sunday. During this, NCPCR President Priyanka Kanungo found many irregularities here.

17 bottles of Corex cough syrup were found without a prescription from this children’s home. The Commission had received information that the Rainbow Children’s Home is being run illegally in Girija Devi Shahdev state school located in the Nagdi police station area after which NCPCR conducted a surprise inspection here. After the investigation, Priyanka Kanungo registered a case against the children’s home in Nagdi police station. Notably, the rescued children from different places have been kept here.

Several irregularities were found in the children’s home:

-Rainbow Children’s Home is being operated illegally in the nationalized school building of Nagdi.

-Despite not being registered, the children’s home is receiving government facilities in a wrong way.

-17 bottles of Korex cough syrup have been found in the children’s home, which have been ordered without a doctor’s prescription.

-A 19-year-old boy was found involved in child labour.

-The seven girls, who were ordered to be kept in two separate children’s homes, have been found in this children’s home. Both these NGOs are taking advantage of crores of foreign aid and state government funds.

-Another missionary organization was also found taking advantage of government and foreign funds in the name of the children of the children’s home. Evidence of FCRA funding of nine crores, government funding of 23 lakhs and other donations has been found from here. But all children study in government KJBV school.

Priyank Kanungo revealed that in Ranchi, in the year 2022, an alleged social worker and former IAS officer-affiliated organization was illegally operating a Rainbow Children’s Home. Incidents of sexual harassment and attempts to cover up the case had come to light. Kanungo had filed a case in this matter and had also ensured the cessation of government funding, directing the relocation of the children to another place. However, when the Chairman of the State Child Protection Commission inspected the place along with members, they found that the Rainbow Children’s Home was being run inside a government school.
