Ranchi, Sept 7: As Chief minister Hemant Soren led UPA continued to hit Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais over his continuous absence from Ranchi and his silence over the disqualification issue of the Chief Minister, the Raj Bhavan stated that the Governor is in Delhi owing to some urgent personal matter.
The explanation came after Chief Minister Hemant Soren during the confidence motion on September 5 charged the Governor with sneaking away to Delhi from the backdoor of the Raj Bhavan thus creating a situation of uncertainty.
“He has some personal problems due to which he is in Delhi. We can’t share personal matters for public consumption. Once he comes out of this problem he will return. One should avoid making statements without verifying the facts. You can say anything about any person if you are not aware of the problems faced by the concerned person,” sources in the Raj Bhavan said.
Sources said that it was disturbing to note that the Governor was repeatedly attacked with uncalled for statements without knowing the fact that his Delhi stay is due to personal reasons rather than political.
However, sources did not disclose the urgent pressing personal issue forcing the Governor to stay in Delhi when all eyes are fixed upon him after the Election Commission of India (ECI) sent its recommendation regarding disqualification of Hemant Soren for availing a stone lease mine in his name.
It is said that the Governor is engaged in a problem related to his grandson. Some media reports claimed that he had gone to Delhi for his treatment.
Governor left for Delhi on September 2, a day after an eight-member delegation of the UPA met and requested him to ‘clear the air’ and disclose ECI opinion on the Hemant Soren that whether or not he is set to lose his membership in the assembly. The JMM led UPA drew a battle-line and charged the office of the Governor for ‘purported selective leaks on the ECI report creating “state of chaos, confusion and uncertainty, which vitiates the administration and the governance of the State.”
The UPA alleged that such a silence has encouraged the BJP for political brinkmanship to destabilise the democratically elected government headed by Hemant Soren.
