New Delhi, May 20: Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, stated in a tweet on Friday that his June 5 Ayodhya visit has been postponed. The 53-year-old leader further stated that he will reveal the details during his rally in Pune on Sunday.
Since he protested to the use of loudspeakers in mosques a few weeks ago, the MNS leader has been at the centre of a major dispute in the state. In Mumbai, some posters appeared with his party’s threat that if anyone tried to harm their leader, Maharashtra would ‘rise up.’
Earlier, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, and other BJP leaders have been vocal in their opposition to his proposed visit. They had stated that Raj Thackeray would not be allowed to enter Ayodhya because he had disrespected north Indians.
Notably on April 17, 2022, the MNS chief had announced in Pune that he would visit Ayodhya on June 5 to seek the blessings of Lord Ram.
