Jodhpur, Oct 5: In the poll-bound state of Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled a number of projects totalling Rs 5,000 crore, stating that they will promote the state’s development.
At a ceremony held here, Modi laid the foundation stone and formally inaugurated a number of development projects in domains like road, rail, aviation, health, and higher education.
“The projects started today will lead to further development. Together we have to make Rajasthan a developed and prosperous state,” he said at the function.
He said that only 600 km of Rajasthan’s railway track had been electrified as of 2014, compared to more than 3,700 km in the previous nine years.
A 350-bed trauma centre and critical care hospital block at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur, as well as seven critical care blocks under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) that will be built throughout the state, were among the projects the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for.
Over Rs 350 crore would be spent on the development of the center at the AIIMS.
The IIT Jodhpur campus was inaugurated by the prime minister, who also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the state-of-the-art new terminal building at the Jodhpur airport, which will cost Rs 480 crore.
In addition to other initiatives, he also inaugurated two new rail services in the state and laid the foundation stone for many road development projects that will cost a total of around Rs 1,475 crore to construct.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was present at the event.
