Ramgarh, Sept 21: The district administration issued Important information related to lumpy disease in cows on Wednesday. Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) infection has been reported in Chatra and Deoghar, including neighbouring district Ranchi.
In view of this, information has been given to the general public and livestock owners that lumpy skin disease is a viral disease mainly infecting cattle and buffalo species, which spreads from one animal to another.
In infected animals, symptoms like discharge from the eyes and nose, swelling of the lymph glands, high fever, emergence of knotty lesions on the skin, thrush, pneumonia etc. are found in female animals. The mortality rate in this disease is up to 10 per cent.
If such symptoms are found in cow and buffalo, the nearest officer can be informed so that veterinary and preventive actions can be taken. For this, the state level toll free number 1800-309-7711 has been issued, in which the veterinarians can be consulted from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
