Ramgarh, Jan 12: Sapna Singh, a former athletic cadet of Tata Steel West Bokaro Division has been selected in a 26-member contingent to participate in the 10th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan from February 10 to February 12, 2023.
At present, Sapna works for Central Industrial Security Forces and is a known athlete in 100 m hurdles. She has recently won the Open National, Bangalore and also won a silver medal and a gold medal in South Asian Youth Open held in Jakarta in 2018.
Moreover, Krishna Tudu, a resident of Karamatia village and also a cadet at the West Bokaro Feeder Centre has been selected for Elite Tata Football Academy (2022 batch).
Krishna’s father Beni Ram Tudu works as a contract worker at Tata Steel West Bokaro and seeing his son’s achievement is like a dream coming true.

Tata Football Academy is an association football academy based in Jamshedpur sponsored by Tata Steel, which owns ISL outfit Jamshedpur FC. It is one of the renowned football academies in India. The football academy was conceived in 1983 and inaugurated in 1987.
The West Bokaro Sports Department is a renowned department of Tata Steel that not only promotes the company’s sports culture and trains the cadets but also takes care of the community by running a facility called ‘Swasth West Bokaro’ under which they provide lifestyle management coaching to local women and men at no cost so that they can live a healthy life.
