Ramgarh, Nov.13: Ramgarh cantt. commenced a 5-days celebration of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war with the arrival of ‘Victory Flame’ on 13th November.
On December 16, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute at the National Memorial in New Delhi and set out four victory flames in all four directions, kicking off the nationwide celebrations.
These victory flames are being carried throughout the length and breadth of the country, including villages of Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees of the 1971 war. Soil from the villages of these gallant warriors and from areas where major battles were fought in 1971 is being brought to the national war memorial.
“The victory flame will now be driven around Ramgarh city, led by cycling team, before it leaves for Gaya on November 18. Veterans hailing from Ramgarh and nearby places have also been invited to participate in the victory celebrations as also to share their experiences about saga of valor and sacrifice.
“Other events during the celebrations include military band display at War Memorial and weapon display” said the Deputy Commander (SRC) Col. Kumar Ranvijay.
On 14th November, the victory flame will arrive at 10:30 a.m. Band display will be held at 5 p.m.
Victory March with cycling teams around Ramgarh City will be conducted on 16th November from 10:30 a.m. These functions will be held at different places of Ramgarh town. Felicitations of the station of 1971 war veterans and ‘Veer Nari’ will take place on November 17 from 11:30 a.m.
The wreath laying and flagging of victory flame to Gaya will be done on 18th November 9:30 a.m.
